Our Women’s Empowerment Program provides women with an increased family income and a community of support and encouragement.
Currently KCM is running a Women’s Empowerment Program in the Kadikhati slum. Once a week 16 women gather under the direction of a job skills instructor who teaches them how to make various crafts by hand. These crafts are sold at local markets and the profits are divided among the women providing them with the opportunity to contribute an income to their families. At its inception there were almost no resources available to this program. Now, thanks to KCM’s dedicated team, the program provides both practical skills training and a community for the women to encourage and support each other. In the future KCM would like to establish similar programs in other slums in the city. Serving 10-30 adults each, these programs would bless people with six months of training to hone their talents and develop a steady income.
