The primary aim of the club is to invest in young lives so as to improve the quality of life within the slums. The children gather for time of singing, dancing, learning stories and watching skits. They also draw, color, and learn how to make various crafts. We also teach the children how to play various games and encourage them to engage in healthy sportsmanship. By actively working as a positive influence in the lives of the slum children we hope to counter many of the negative influences of the slum. Children who are taught how to interact well with others and to take care of their slum will be less likely to engage in violent and immoral activities when they are older. Through the children’s club we hope to begin reshaping the future of the slums and the city of Kolkata. |
